Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I like my terminal sized 120x40, and not 80x24 as the default settings are. This is usually fixed by editing /usr/share/vte/termcap/xterm (see attached file). Recently, gnome-terminal stopped reading these settings and always opens 80x24. I found there is a way to set these from the profile preferences. Is ignoring /usr/share/vte/termcap/xterm the supposed behavior?

This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME . Thanks in advance!

This is the wrong fix. If you can configure the size in the terminal/profile preferences, you don't need to modify the termcap entry anymore.
