adept-notifier, and users who cannot sudo

Bug Description

Binary package hint: adept

Adept-notifier currently works identically for all users. This is counterproductive for
users who do not manage the computer, are not in the admin group, and cannot sudo..... if an update is needed it displays the warning icon which encourages the user to click. That then shows the kdesu password prompt but, for these users, there is no possible password which will work. Very frustrating.

I was going to report on this bug. It is true on a multiuser Gutsy system. users who cannot sudo or simply do administrative tasks such as update the system should not be bothered by administrative tasks. I have several accounts in which all are bothered by the adept_notifier. if they try to open it, they're asked for there password. if they enter their password, nothing happens. they should not see this. new users find no trust in a system that ask for there password and then do nothing about it. it is as close to phishing without being criminal as you can get. It is like someone asking for your credit card number and they have no good reason to do so what-so-ever.

this is not only evident with the adept notifier in the system tray but also this behavior is very rampant in kcontrol. instead of a user being told they have no rights and not to bother, they're asked for their password and nothing happens. they're thrown for a loop with this behavior and makes the system feel very broken.

the best behavior is to never ask for a password. either warn the user about not having enough rights (unobtrusively without popups) OR simply do not show administrative task to the user in any way system tray OR kcontrol, etc.
