creating fuse device...
./MAKEDEV: don't know how to make device "fuse"

... sadly that has to wait for a new makedev, sorry for that

I maintain a customised distribution.

This bug is a problem in jaunty, but oddly enough was not a problem in feisty, gutsy, hardy.
The blocks customised LiveCD builds. I would love to see a way around it.

Typically one sets up a minimal system, chroots into it, and then apt-get's more packages. If any package has fuse as a dependency, the build dies. The metapackage "ubuntu-standard" has fuse-utils as a dependency....
