Bug Description
kde network printer auto discovery is not as discoverable as it is in gnome. bug 8975 has details on what was done to the gnome print dialogue particularly comments 14 onwards.
Sharing printers on 6.06 version is done like this: cups/enable_ sharing 1
sudo /usr/share/
Enabling your clients to see shared printers is done like this: cups/enable_ browsing 1
sudo /usr/share/
It's true, KDE doesn't have GUI for doing this. But this is cause printing.kde.org stoped developing 4 years ago. Hopefully, GUI will be created at some point in the future.
As you can see, you don't need any other password but your own. Desipte Kurt's blog, none functionality was taken from CUPS. If you want to use web interface, you should read README.Debian or Kurt's blog, in which he clearly states that one should add cupsys user to shadow group.
