Sharing printers on 6.06 version is done like this:
sudo /usr/share/cups/enable_sharing 1

Enabling your clients to see shared printers is done like this:
sudo /usr/share/cups/enable_browsing 1

It's true, KDE doesn't have GUI for doing this. But this is cause printing.kde.org stoped developing 4 years ago. Hopefully, GUI will be created at some point in the future.

As you can see, you don't need any other password but your own. Desipte Kurt's blog, none functionality was taken from CUPS. If you want to use web interface, you should read README.Debian or Kurt's blog, in which he clearly states that one should add cupsys user to shadow group.

This isn't CUPS bug, since CUPS has instruments for enabling sharing/browsing. KDE doesn't provide GUI for it, so this is a KDE bug.

Changed in cupsys:
importance: Untriaged → Medium
