Bug Description
If the LottaNZB window is minimized, then toggling the "Show main window" state causes the window to appear in/disappear from the window list, but otherwise has no useful effect. This behavior is extremely counterintuitive, especially because the "Show main window" state is connected with clicking on the notification icon. In my experience, clicking on a notification icon usually has the effect of bringing the associated application to the foreground (or, occasionally, dismissing the application if it is already open). IMHO, enabling "show main window" when the window is minimized should restore the window.

Thanks alot for taking the time to report this bug. In general, I don't minimize the LottaNZB window, which is why this issue hadn't drawn my attention so far. After having thought a little about it, I agree that your proposal would indeed improve usability. Transmission seems to behave exactly as LottaNZB while Rhythmbox seems to do it right.
Fixing this bug is going to be easy and the fix should be part of LottaNZB 0.5.3, which is to be released soon.
