Bug Description

Binary package hint: x11-common

The /etc/X11/xorg.conf as created by dexconf has this text in the header:

# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.
# (Type "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)

This is incorrect - the config file itself is passed to "man" which attempts to display xorg.conf.

The correct syntax should be displayed:

man 5x xorg.conf

Even 'man xorg.conf' is sufficient.

Indeed.

We have both spent more keystrokes in defining the problem, than would be involved in rectifying the same.

Replace "man /etc/X11/xorg.conf" with "man xorg.conf" and close this down.

Better still, for clarity, it may be worth (aka "there may be no harm in") including the " 5x ", as originally suggested.

so it's a variable that is replaced by a value. Easy to fix, yes.
