Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

Rhythmbox crashes the second time I load a radio-stream. After that it displays an error-message that It cannot start the music pipeline and on top of that a dialog-box that it cannot stop the music pipeline. After that it is not possible to play any music at all. After restarting Rhythmbox it will again play one radio-stream, but after switching to another radiostation the music stops again.....HELP!

I must say that it all worked flawlessly before the last software-update.......so I suspect something went wrong there.

My system runs Ubuntu 9.01 on an eeePC from Asus (1000H).

Do you mean to say that the problem happens when to pause/stop a stream and try to play again?

Nigel,

Thanks for your reply. It is a little more complicated than that. Rhythmbox
crashes after changing a radio-stream. Not always after the first change,
but usually within a change or two..It gives than two dialog boxes on top of
each other. One tells me It cannot START the music pipeline and on top of
that a dialog-box (or the other way around,I don't remember) that it cannot
STOP the music pipeline. After that nothing works. It won't play any music.
No flac-files or MP3-files on the harddisk, no podcasts that are already
downloaded and no musicstream or radio as mentioned. The only way to make it
running again is to completely close down the application (not neccesary to
close down the laptop). With the closing of Rhythmbox an empty dialogbox
appears. After closing that and starting Rhythmbox again, it will run fine
.....till I try to change a radio-station.........

I now am really considering to run an older distro from Ubuntu (not 9.01,
but the previous one). Just to make things running again.

Regards,
Peter van der Maas

Could you try running rhythmbox from a terminal with "GST_DEBUG=*:2
GST_DEBUG_NO_COLOR=1 rhythmbox" and seeing if any error messages are printed
out when you try this?

same problem here. every radio station change (exclude the first) happens in the same way. Visual notification about the new station, aprox. 2 sec of music, then the main windows is closed, the music stops and the visual notification about the new station is dissapearing. anything to help debugging this bug? :(
