Network connection works fine, though.

I solved it after executing the following commands:

u1sync --authorize

and

rm -rf ~/.config/ubuntuone

Thank you for submitting this bug and helping to make Ubuntu One better. Sorry you are experiencing difficulties. If you continue to have trouble could you please run the following command in a Terminal (Applications > Accesories > Terminal)

apport-collect -p ubuntuone-client 525682

this will attach extra information to this bug report so we can better determine the root cause of your issue.
thank you,

Hello splashis,

According to the original description this is much like bug #498444 which deals with the timeouts during syncdaemon startup.
However subsequent replies suggest that there is something that prevents syncdaemon from syncing.

Could you please attach the ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log if you continue experiencing the problem?

Thanks for the log file.

You can mark the bug as a private one if you want the bug report to be visible to you and Ubuntu One team only.

Based on the log file you've sent me, this is related to the following bugs:
 * Bug 498444 - applet/preferences get dbus timeout on startup that is related to Bug 476711, local rescan is not optimel
 * Bug 531273 - related to slow server rescan leading to a significant delay in case there are many files in the UbuntuOne-controlled directories.

In your case the syncdaemon is not connected to the service, you might want to connect it via the applet / u1sdtool --connect after the initial syncdaemon startup (u1sdtool --start for PPA versions).

Thanks for your help but I don't know what to do. I tried "u1sdtool --start" in the terminal. Is that right?

I deleted the PPA version as it is thought for Lucid.

How can I connect?

when I put "u1sdtool --connect" in the terminal, this is what I get:

Usage: u1sdtool [option]

u1sdtool: error: no such option: --connect

When I start the applet, a FF-window opens in order to authenticate my computer.

I click "Add this computer" and after a while the applet disappears.

The next time I start the applet he requires the authentification again....
