Bug Description

Binary package hint: kubuntu-desktop

When I insert a CD I can´t use the button on the drive to eject it. The only way is to click on the icon on the desktop and select "eject".
IMHO it should be allowed to eject CDs at any time. Other distros neither force the CD to be in the drive until it´s unmounted.

It sounds like your eject key is not working properly, rather than it being KDE's fault.

What type of computer is it? (what model, if applicable)

And is the drive busy at the time?

No my CD drive isn´t broken :)
It works on windows and with other distros, I rather think it´s a problem of the drive being locked while mounted, which older distros had, too.

I can confirm this bug. When you have a cd mounted and press the drive eject button, in ubuntu, gnome umounts and eject the cd. In kubuntu i have to umount the drive by hand.
KDE is not working fine with hal and dbus?

Using kubuntu dapper.

Eject button works in ubuntu since this bug: Bug #36539.

In my computer with a cd mounted:

roax@XXXXX:~$ lshal -m

Start monitoring devicelist:
-------------------------------------------------
storage_model_MATSHITADVD_RAM_UJ_811 condition EjectPressed =
storage_model_MATSHITADVD_RAM_UJ_811 condition EjectPressed =
storage_model_MATSHITADVD_RAM_UJ_811 condition EjectPressed =

roax@XXXXX:~$

KDE is not handling this HAL event.

The fix should be in KDE 3.5.4.
