Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

This is happening during ISO testing for Lucid Alpha 3.

In a fresh Ubuntu installation in Spanish, the system is completely in Spanish, but Firefox remains in English.

I've just tested the image from 26/02/10: Ubuntu 10.04 "Lucid Lynx" - Alpha i386 (20100226)
and I can confirm the problem.

I've also tried to run Firefox at the Live session and the result was the same. The live session was in Spanish but the Firefox was in English.

This seems to be indeed a problem with the Spanish Firefox language packs. I could also confirm it.

I've done two quick tests:

* Catalan: on the Lucid desktop I use daily FF translations are fine. Also when testing a new installation with network (Catalan language packs are not in the ISO and need to be downloaded).
* German: on a LiveCD, where the German language packs are in the ISO, just as in Spanish, Firefox German translations are loaded just fine.

The Firefox translations seem to be installed, the only thing I'm not sure about is the es-ES naming (I seem to remember we had a similar problem last release):

$ dpkg -L language-pack-es-base | grep /usr/lib
/usr/lib
/usr/lib/firefox-addons
/usr/lib/firefox-addons/extensions
/<email address hidden>
/<email address hidden>/chrome.manifest
/<email address hidden>/firefox-3.6-es.jar
/<email address hidden>/install.rdf
/usr/lib/xulrunner-addons
/usr/lib/xulrunner-addons/extensions
/<email address hidden>
/<email address hidden>/chrome.manifest
/<email address hidden>/xulrunner-1.9.1-es.jar
/<email address hidden>/install.rdf

The bug is in the install.rdf which is created by langpack-o-matic, more specific, po2xpi.

This should be:

With this fix in place, firefox appears translated in Spanish on my Lucid machine.
