Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-panel

Following a HD failure that could not be repaired with fsck, I istalled a new second HD. Now I am running ubuntu-9.10-desktop-i386 that I just downloaded from the Ubuntu site as a live disk preparing to do an install. I got no signal 7 errors of which I am aware. What I am experiencing is some overscan on the left and right edges of my desktop. More importantly, my desktop is jumping up and down vertically about 2X per second. The upper menu bar appears momentarily and then disappears. The same with the status bar. Also, when the cursor is over the desktop, it turns from an arrow to a spinning wheel in synchronization with the jumping desktop.

HTH. Thanks,

Peter Hollings

Apport retracing service (apport) wrote : No launchpad retracing

Unsetting the need retracing tag, there is no retracer left running on that version of Ubuntu, the crash will need to be manually retraced
