Bug Description

Binary package hint: plymouth

On any of my computers (Eeepc 900, 1101HA or a computer with an nvidia graphical card) I got a splash with a non graphical ubuntu logo (just a text "Ubuntu 10.04", but with progress bar and color, like the one from mockups, or from older plymouth versions, before ~13) and it gets disrupted by information lines like "ureadahead... sigterm process xxxx" (don't remember the correct message, but sigterm signals) and by fsck infos on early boot. Happens with ~14 version of plymouth.

seems linked to init output, all messages which display apart fsck are from init.

I am unsure whether this is a dupe of bug #526892 or not. I am seeing the same behaviour in a VM & on a laptop with a Geforce 8800M only after installing the hardware drivers through jockey. Bug #526892 appears to be regarding a "blue ASCII progress bar" which I am not seeing.

I am attaching 2 photos (pretty blurry due to camera restraints) that show exactly what I am seeing.

I can post a screenshot from a VM showing more details if required.

The same behaviour occurs when using the latest (ver 190.53) drivers from the nvidia website.

I am seeing this on my lucid install with latest nvidia drivers. However, I booted up a daily livecd and saw the pretty graphical splash. Not sure if the livecd graphical stuff would last if I reinstalled from it though, and I'm not about to try yet.

Yes, this is the same as bug #526892 - the latest upload of plymouth changed the colors used by the text plugin, but it's still the same fundamental bug. Marking as a duplicate.
