Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubuntuone-client

Hi everyone. I'm using Ubuntu 9.10 with Ubuntu One Client 1.0.3-0 and trying to synchronize some files with my girlfriend. She has uploaded 6 folders with files, which I can see in the website interface, but they are not automatically downloaded to my Ubuntu One folder. Only the folders are created, but there are no files inside as I see in my ubuntu one website.

I tried restarting Ubuntu One client several times, but it says that all my files are already updated.

Thank you.

TheWitchdoktor,
I'm sorry to hear Ubuntu One is not working properly for you. Did the files ever copy for you?

If you would like to help debug the problem that would be greatly appreciated. You can do the following in order to provide important details that will help determine the root cause of this issue.

1) Quit the Ubuntu One client. R-click on the Ubuntu One applet and select 'Quit'

2) Open Applications->Accessories->Terminal, then run the command:
  mv ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log_old && mkdir ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log

3) Run the following in the Terminal to open/create this file:
 gedit ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf

    #Add the following two (2) lines to this file and save:
    [__main__]
    log_level = DEBUG

4) Open Ubuntu One as you normally would Applications->Internet->Ubuntu One

5) Let Ubuntu One run for a bit, copy some files into your Ubuntu One Folder. Then attach the following logs to this bug: ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon.log & ~/.cache/ubuntuone/log/syncdaemon-exceptions.log

You can attach logs to this bug report by clicking the 'Add Attachment or patch' button at the bottom of the page. Thank you for filing this bug report and helping to make Ubuntu better.

thank you,

Hi! Thank you very much for your reply.

First, I will answer your question. In the SHARED WITH ME folder, there is a folder (uploaded by other user and shared with me) with 5 folders and 1 file. I can open this file (that means it is on my HD) but the folders are empty (the files are not on my HD but they are on my ubuntu one internet account).

As far as I know, all the files that I have synchronized (copying them to my Ubuntu One folder on my HD) have been properly uploaded and shared.

I have followed your indications, but when I make 5), a window appears and asks me to send a report automatically. After I do this, Ubuntu One client closes and I can't use it anymore. This happens every time.

Greetings from Argentina,

Damián

Could someone please tell me how to log in with the Ubuntu One Client now that tries to send a report and closes automatically?

Hi TheWitchdoktor.
Can you please attach your ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf to this bug report? It appears that there may be a typo in this file when you added the debugging information into this file. Please upload this file so that I can verify this.

Also, please attach your current Ubuntu One logs to this bug report. Please zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.

Thanks in advance!

Hi TheWitchdoktor
Please edit your ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf. Please delete all of the text contained within that file. Please copy & paste the 4 lines of text below into that file, save the file & reboot.

[bandwidth_throttling]
on = False
read_limit = 2097152
write_limit = 2097152

Please advise if this fixes your issue. If not, please zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here as these will contain updated logs for debugging your issue. Please also attach your newly modified ~/.config/ubuntuone/syncdaemon.conf

Thanks in advance!

Thank you Mitch, I can use Ubuntu One again. However, It can't still download the files I mentioned before. Let's see what happens when I upgrade to Lucid this week.

Hi TheWitchDoktor.
The Ubuntu One service was down for much needed upgrading in preparation for Lucid's release. The server's were not online when you last commented on this bug report (the servers came back online today at 03:45:00 UTC - See http://tinyurl.com/2bg26ah for local time conversions).

Can you please try syncing again & report back? If you are still having problems syncing, please attach your new Ubuntu One logs to this bug report. Please zip your $HOME/.cache/ubuntuone/log/ folder and attach the zip here.

Thanks in advance!

Hi TheWitchDoktor.
File sync speed is a lot faster now (although the server-side issues are still being fine-tuned). Can you please advise whether you are still experiencing this issue now that you have upgraded to Lucid?

Thanks in advance!
