Looking at the dpkg log, I see that all update requests (since the beginning of the log, at 2010-03-01) failed for MySQL. I also see the following lines:
/usr/bin/ mysqladmin: connect to server at 'localhost' failed sys-maint' @'localhost' (using password: YES)' apt/archives/ mysql-server- 5.0_5.1. 30really5. 0.75-0ubuntu10. 3_i386. deb
error: 'Access denied for user 'debian-
Errors were encountered while processing:
/var/cache/
So. Did you disable, delete, or change the password for the 'debian- sys-maint@ localhost' MySQL userid?
