Bug Description

I've created an Ubuntu-friendly application icon for Gwibber, and it was approved at ubuntu-art mailing list. How to get it included in Gwibber or Humanity?
The icon itself is here: http://shnatsel.narod.ru/gwibber_purple.svg

@Sergey "Shnatsel" Davidoff: The artwork mailing list hasnt "approved" the icon. It was just replies by people who liked your icon, and they aernt part of the humanity team ;-)
The artwork mailing list is just a community art mailing list, where we share ideas :-)

This is a big branding change , it needs to be done in Gwibber Upstream. [And from what i know , upstream doesnt want to use icons as specific to Ubuntu]
Humanity doesnt change the branding of applications. All icons are just generic icons. Some like babao which were quite oldish icons , had to be updated. We dont include application icons. Else, there are a lot of icons we'd want to change ;-)

@Sergey: I like the general style of the icon, but I'd prefer a more neutral color. Could you do a version of it in blue?

I guess it's too blue.

how about involving http://live.gnome.org/GnomeArt/ArtRequests in the further development?

I've created a grayscale icon. Doesn't look pretty as it is, but maybe someone else manages to color it?

How about CompizConfig? As far as I know, it uses generic desktop effects icon. Why don't you create a generic social client icon in Humanity?

Well , there is no icon name for a generic social client icon , afaik , the icon used in all the menus is the gwibber icon. Adding such an icon in the theme would not be used anywhere either.

Maybe it is something that should be suggested for the XDG Icon Naming Specs? You can file a bug for that.

After newsgroups, email, ftp, telnet, RSS ... IM, VoIP now there's MICROBLOGGING
it needs a generic icon in Gnome..
i think this is big enough to be designed collaboratively on art.gnome.org

I've made a rather neutral icon. It's just a raster preview yet, but if it's good enough, I can do the same in vectors. Here it is: http://shnatsel.narod.ru/gwibber_preview.png
By the way, maybe it's a good idea to move the shadow right a bit.

while it seems reasonable to continue this discussion here, since this is
the bug report handling it, i believe the problem itself is upstream.

if somebody could develop a visual metaphor on freedesktop.org or
gnome.orgwith an exemplary design to it, i'm sure there will be no way
to stop its
introduction into the next main release..

hrm? What do you mean?
Gwibber icon has nothing to do with fdo or gnome.org.
Its just waiting for a finalized design.

i was thinking of Gwibber's function as the system's native handler for
everything related to Social Broadcast.. That would not be a "branding" in
the sense of a logo for a particular app, rather a visual metaphor for
Social Broadcast, as discussed in a few places before already..

Maybe it's better to keep those two thoughts seperated neatly from each
other..
