Bug Description
Description: Ubuntu lucid (development branch) - Ubuntu Studio BETA 1
Release: 10.04
After install I tried to install the restricted driver for my broadcom Wireless device, using jockey-gtk. When I tried to activate the driver, an error message showed up with this info : SystemError: installArchives() failed.
After this i tried to use the jockey-text using this command : sudo jockey-text -e kmod:wl and the result was the same.
With the help of zyga @#ubuntu-dev i started to try to find the error inside the python sources, but couldn't find any reference to this error. zyga also ran jockey-gtk using strace and it seams jockey didn't opened any files, so seams to me, there are no logs of the problem.
After some time trying to find the source of the problem, i decided to reboot the computer and then it worked.
So, this problem cant be reproduced easily, because it will need to be made on a fresh install and first boot.
Maybe it is related to the apt repositories or the refreshing of the apt list, since jockey does import the apt module.
this bug can be very annoying for someone that makes the first boot and can be scared away by it. although it was solved just for rebooting the machine. please, if you need more info say so and i will try to help in any way I can.
