Bug Description

Binary package hint: gwibber

Currently in Lucid Beta 1, mentions are added to the messaging menu but they do not change the messaging menu icon to draw attention. This is because the "draw-attention" property is not set to true in the indicator sent.

A solution is to add the line

indicator.set_property("draw-attention", "true")

to the function handle_indicator_item in dispatcher.py

This was actually by design, following friends on social networks doesn't require immediate attention. We don't want to abuse draw-attention, that should be reserved for messaging that requires attention.

Changed in gwibber (Ubuntu):
status: New → Won't Fix

Ken, but in this case it's not "following friends" (being notified of *all* their updates), but following messages directed at you (*only* replies and mentions). Is it really still an abuse in this case? I'd say a direct message deserves attention.

So the indicator should be left at "set up broadcast account". At the very least change that to 'Broadcast' when 1 or more accounts are configured.

It seems like the user should be able to mark certain accounts as 'alert', maybe even alert on mention.

BrandonTomlinson, sudo apt-get install logout and login again and you wont see 'setup broadcast accounts' this bug is already fixed in Lucid if you update your system to latest gwibber

oops that was sudo apt-get install python-indicate (simply updating your system should automatically install python indicate)
