Same here. After running fglrxinfo, checking dmesg yields:

My problem seems to have resolved itself after removing/reinstalling a few times, and wiping out my /etc/X11/xorg.conf, and then running aticonfig --initial

added information for the very same bug for fglrxinfo over at bug #555445

the bugs have already been marked as duplicate please don't delete the attachments since the might be useful to upstream

I've already pointed to this bug over at phoronix.com/forums

hopefully the devs over at AMD will read, analyze, be able to reproduce and offer a fix for this problem

I followed encoded's advice and after the next reboot it magically worked - strange

there however seem to be users who are not so lucky :(

I can confirm that encoded's fix worked for me :-) Compiz loads fine, fglrxinfo works fine, but... Now my mouse left button button works always in "drag window" mode, unless I click the ALT key (seems like compiz is getting the status of the ALT key toggled, thus taking ALT+click as a normal click, and the normal click as an ALT-click)... Any suggestions as to which package to fill this bug against? Compiz?
