I'm running Lucid Beta 1 with fglrx. Recently, gnome-screensaver has started to obscure the password entry box to unlock the screen.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Can you check if this is true for all screensavers, or just certain specific ones. If this only occurs on gl screensavers the problem could be related to https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xscreensaver/+bug/569993

Yes, it looks like it only applies to GL screensavers.
