Bug Description

I have a surround 5.1 playback problem, but stereo playback works:

(1) The sound does not come through continuously, but with crackles and short gaps.

(2) The speaker assignment seems wrong (the center channel of an video DVD can be additionally heard on the left front and left rear).

The linux-alsa-driver-modules from ppa:ubuntu-audio-dev has changes the audio playback, but not fixed the bug. The sound is still crackling. The speaker assignment has changed, but is still wrong (center sound comes from rear left).

I removed pulseaudio and everything work (with and without linux-alsa-driver-modules installed). No crackling sound and "speaker-test -Dplug:surround51 -c6 -l1 -twav" outputs the sound to the correct speaker. Therefore the bug must be in pulseaudio.
