Bug Description

Binary package hint: beagle

After installing Beagle in Ubuntu the gnome-search-tool gets deleted from the applications menu:

$ gnome-menu-spec-test -f /etc/xdg/menus/applications.menu | grep search
Zubeh?r/ beagle-search.desktop /home/tim/.local/share/applications/beagle-search.desktop

=> Some users wont to have both searches: gnome-search-tool and Beagle

This is trivially reproducable by installing Beagle.

Also, Beagle doesn't provide a proper superset of the gnome-search-tool
functionality, which would be the pre-requisite for it being a complete
replacement.

Are you speaking about the "Places" menu item? Is that the feature of bug #38986 you are discuting?

Beagle isn't the one changing the Places shortcut all on its own.
Sorry but I can't do anything with this on the beagle side.
