I don't think this importance Low, it can break upgrades badly.

After :
trying to overwrite '/usr/lib/libmysqlclient.so.16.0.0', which is also in package mysql-cluster-client-5.1 0:7.0.9-1ubuntu7

I had to do :
sudo dpkg --purge mysql-cluster-server-5.1
sudo dpkg --purge mysql-cluster-client-5.1

because my apt-get (install/remove) was broken.

I agree with Michael; anything that breaks the package manger should NOT be low priority.
I was advised to drop to a console and run 'sudo apt-get install -f' and that failed miserably.
Then, Ubuntu Software Manager advised I use the 'Broken Filter'......Huh?
After some Googling, I found that someone used Synaptic to repair the broken package.
It was in there that I found 'Filters' and clicked 'Broken'.
I STILL didn't know what to do, but intuitively right clicked and saw 'Remove broken package'.
This worked, but what a hassle to go through.
This would MOST DEFINITELY scare away a noob.
I envision the package manager behaving a bit more like this:
Ubuntu Software Manager encountered a problem, would like to autorepair? Yes/No
There are (x) number of packages broken, would you like to view the list? Yes/No
Attempting to repair/remove broken packages...please wait:

Until then, my Mum just can't use this. ;)

Resolution to this issue is that package maintainers need to remove libmysqlclient16 libraries e.g. usr/lib from package
mysql-cluster-client-5.1. Then make mysql-cluster-client-5.1 dependable on libmysqlclient16 package.

Any workarounds that dont involve removing mysql-cluster? On the production system i've got it on, it is part of mysql-cluster so removing the package isnt really an option.

This is low priority? Really?? This knackers the LAMP stack if MySQL is clustered, which I would have thought would be considered a pretty hefty flaw in a server OS.

Not forgetting of course that Lucid is supposed to be LTS. Clustered LAMP isn't going to be a viable option using Ubuntu until the next LTS?

Sorry for spamming this thread, but for others' reference: the packages can be forced to fix dependency issues:

aptitude download php5-mysql libmysqlclient16
dpkg --install --force-all ./libmysqlclient16*.deb
dpkg --install --force-all ./php5-mysql*.deb

Thanks for posting this, it fixed APT!
It's been very frustrating with my LAMP cluster not having a working apt-get after getting mysql to cluster on ubuntu 10.04!
I must agree this is a pretty simple to fix dependency bug that renders 10 LTS useless for mysql cluster!
