Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-terminal

I applied an update everal days ago, and ever since, gnome-terminal redraws very slowly. This shows up in output (i.e. - scrolling text) and while movin the window around.

All other windows redraw normally when I move them around the screen, only gnome-terminal seems to be affected. I think it may have been the font-rendering update, but I have no way of confriming this as of right now. If you need more info, let me know, and I will post it.

Are you using Dapper or Edgy What version of gnome-terminal are you using? What update was it from what to what?

It's Dapper, and gnome-terminal is 2.14.2. I'm not sure what the update was from, but I thought it might be the recent freetype update. I update pretty regularly; at least once a week.

Unfortunately (or fortunately, dpending on your outlook), the problem has mysteriously dissappeared. I did some more updates this morning, but they all had to do with mysql. When I just brought up gnome-terminal to check the version, it was working fine. Go figure.

The odd behavior has returned. I tried turning off all the hardware accelleration, just in case that was the issue, but to no avail. What else can I check?

do you use some non-official package for vte by example? do you use xgl or compiz or some similar feature?

It would appear that I had, in fact, inadvertantly updated gnome-terminal and libvte using the compiz repo. I 'downgraded' to the one in the official repo and all seems well. Thanks for the suggestion.

no problem, please mention on bugs when you use non-official packages next time it makes debugging easier for everybody
