Bug Description

Binary package hint: amarok

after a regular update to this dapper powerpc system, amarok fails to start up, looping infinitely with the following output to stderr:

amarok: [CollectionDB] [ERROR!] [virtual QStringList SqliteConnection::query(const QString&)] sqlite3_compile error:
amarok: [CollectionDB] [ERROR!] no such table: tags
amarok: [CollectionDB] [ERROR!] on query: SELECT COUNT( url ) FROM tags LIMIT 1 OFFSET 0;

ii amarok-xine 1.4.2-0ubuntu2~dappe xine engine for the amaroK audio player

the amarok-arts package is broken, incidentally:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  amarok-arts: Depends: amarok (= 2:1.3.9-0ubuntu4) but 2:1.4.2-0ubuntu2~dapper1 is to be installed

because of an straight equality test for a specific version of the package. The only action required to reproduce this bug on powerpc is to start the application, which never arises, and which consumes 100% of the cpu until it is killed. Start from the commandline to see the output to stderr.

as for the second half of the bug, amarok-arts isnt being supported anymore, in upstream, debian, and ubuntu. it should probably have a "replaces: amarok-arts" there though.

It looks like that this amarok 1.4.2-0ubuntu2~dapper version is missing the patch from http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=133072 which is already in Edgy's amarok 1.4.2-0ubuntu3 as kubuntu_07_collection.diff.

Can you give me a little more information. Do you have this problem still? What version of Amarok are you on now? Thanks.

fixed in edgy, feisty.

Dapper users will need to update to 1.4.5 from backports, which also fixes many other bugs.
