Bug Description

Ubuntulooks is fine, no problems there. Clearlooks is one of the bad ones - frames appear all over the place, such as the status bar in lots of apps (nautilus, epiphany, gedit).

I'm running edgy currently.

I'll attach a couple of screenshots to demonstrate what I mean.

I'll add this this definitely didn't happen in dapper.

This only seems to affect GtkStatusBar, I've not seen it elsewhere.

Thanks for your bug. Could anybody forward that upstream to know if that's an on purpose change or a bug?

From comments on IRC, it appears this is fixed in gtk2-engines:

[15:44] <benzea> in versions older than 2.8.0 clearlooks won't detect the statusbar, and draw normal frames instead of the special case

The latest source-package of gtk2-engines is 2.8.0 (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gtk2-engines/1:2.8.0-0ubuntu1), which is apparently successfully built, but the current package on gb.archive.ubuntu.com is 2.7.8.

What's going on here?

gtk2-engines 2.8.0 binaries are to NEW at the moment and will probably be accepted after knot-3

I installed gtk2-engines 2.8.0-0ubuntu1, and after logging out and then in again, the problem is resolved! No more ugly frames where they don't belong.

Perhaps this should be marked as fixed once the package hits the repos?

marking as fixed since the source package has been fixed, the build and binary acceptance is a technical detail which doesn't require to keep the bug open
