Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

Evolution in edgy is lacking the calendar widget in the calendar view. Without it, it's much more cumbersome to navigate your calendar and select dates.

It seems to have been replaced by a Memos panel. This is fine, I suppose, but why not have the option to hide/display these panels as the user prefers?

Thanks for your report. Can you make a screenshot of the problem? I still have a calendar in my list. Can you try View -> Layout -> ...?

The calendar is placed on the left pane between the list of calendars and the buttons to switch between the mail, contacts, calendar, etc. Could you try to click on the bar between those and dnd to set if that's not only a matter to changing the high of the widget?

You're right Sebastien, it's there, just not visible by default.

That's fine, except there's a green frame around it. On some themes (ubuntulooks, for one) the frame doesn't show. When it does show, the colour seems independent of theme colours.

Should I report a new bug, or do you think it's related to https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+source/gtk+2.0/+bug/58659 ?

The frame issue might be the same as the GTK bug you pointed. What theme are you using?
I think the bug could be kept open because the calendar should probably be displayed by default, the current way is not easy to discover, reopening

This bug is about the existence of the calendar widget. It turned out that it was there, but the pane wasn't shown by default - you had to drag it to a non-zero size.

However, I think this has been fixed since edgy's release. If I create a new user, log in and open Evolution, the calendar widget it displayed by default. Therefore, this bug isn't valid anymore.

The other issue, about the calendar widget having a frame drawn around it, still applies. Upon further inspection it's clear that every theme seems to draw a frame around the widget, but each with its own colour. The most obvious example is Clearlooks (stock with edgy) draws a bright green frame as I said above. I have no idea why Clearlooks would have such a colour specified...

The point it, I don't think that point is relevant for this bug, which should be closed.
