kernel panic while installing lucid on IBM xServer eServer 225

Bug Description

while trying to install lucid in the "Detecting hardware" phase i get kernel panic. Since i've two similar server i tried with ubuntu server and ubuntu alternate cd.

The errors are described in attached images, there are too much rows to copy.

9.10 is also affected. AFAICS the problem is related to a certain mptbase

Disabling the motherboard's scsi controller i can go on with the setup

I cannot run this command because:

a) is impossible to detect logs, the server crashes without the possibility to interact
b) i've sell the server :-(
