Bug Description

mvo says:

MoM has a "grab-merge" command, that takes the debian unstable package and tries to merge it with the latest unstable revision. It would be nice if there was a single builtin command that did this, either in builddeb or ubuntu-dev-tools (where the current thing is).

grab-merge uses apt-get source, so it fetches from a local mirror and is pretty fast to get the current content. So we could measure the total amount transferred vs apt-get source, and also the time for it to be fetched. (See eg https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/582157).

It's fine to live in u-d-t, but I would also like a bzr-builddeb command.

Stefano Rivera has a script for it (grab-udd-merge) in his u-d-t branch:

lp:~andrewsomething/bzr-builddeb/bzr-grab-merge has a bzr plugin that I've been using. It's pretty ugly, but its been working for me. If someone wanted to mentor this fledgling pythonista this could be usable by the masses...

Hi Andrew,

I've proposed your branch for merging and will look at the code with you
on that merge proposal.

Thanks,

James
