Bug Description

Binary package hint: xorg-driver-fglrx

Today I updated the fglrx driver. Since this update totem-xine needs 100 % CPU (mostly System CPU time; normal User CPU time) playing MPEGs. There is no ALSA sound anymore while playing a video - I assume due to the high CPU usage of video playing.

Going back to the older version 7.0.0-8.25.18+2.6.15.11-1 fixes the problem without changing any configuration file.

This is my xorg.conf file.

I made some more tests. I wonder that the Composite option is disabled in the xorg.conf that I attached - no I can reproduce the effect only by enabling the Composite option. With disabled Composite option the newest version of fglrx plays videos in usual speed.

fglrx turns off 3D acceleration when composite is turned on. There is nothing we can do about it. Turn off composite if you're using fglrx.
