Looks like the original problem is in pam.

Preparing to replace libpam-modules 1.1.1-2ubuntu2 (using .../libpam-modules_1.1.1-2ubuntu5_i386.deb) ...
dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/libpam-modules_1.1.1-2ubuntu5_i386.deb (--unpack):

The libpam-modules segfault (which must be a bug in some other package anyway, since libpam-modules only calls binaries from other packages in its postinst) was on a completely separate apt run, and appears to be unrelated to the failures shown here:

From the dmesg:

Could you please run a memory check ?
If it passes, could you please try to reinstall libgtk2-perl (sudo apt-get install --reinstall libgtk2-perl)

You can workaround your problem by selecting another frontend than gnome for debconf. To select another frontend, open a terminal and run:
$ sudo dpkg-reconfigure debconf
and select another entry than gnome (e.g dialog)

Changed in debconf (Ubuntu):
status: New → Incomplete

Dear Jean-Baptiste,

Memory test passed. Do I need to remove libgtk2-perl (and the other two
connected files) in order to reinstall? I am sorry if this is a dumb
question I am new at this.

Thank you
