evolution fails to complain about wrong imap protocol

Bug Description

Binary package hint: evolution

I misconfigured an account in evolution to fetch mail under imap4 instead of imap because I didn't know any better. The result was that mail failed to come in, but I was not alerted to any error. The imap server concerned was fastmail.fm.

What ought to happen in such a situation is that evolution should complain to the user via a gui alert box.

(This bug may have something to do with #60156, but I'm not sure.)

Thanks for your bug. How does it fail? What version of Ubuntu do you use? What happens, do you get any message?

Instead of the imap folder tree appearing under the name of the account in the left-hand window you simply get the word "Loading..." It stays like that until you close Evolution.

Forgot to mention that I am using Ubuntu Dapper.

Do you still have that problem? Does using imap works fine? Upstream doesn't recommend using imap4 and they stopped building it with the version for edgy

Sorry I don't have any new information because I don't use Evolution any more.

no problem, closing the bug for now then. Feel free to reopen if you try evolution again and still get that bug
