Ark problems with written accents

Bug Description

Binary package hint: ark

Ark is unable to extract an archive in .zip format because a file within contains a written accent (it's very common in spanish or other languages) in its name. It seems like Ark gives two different filenames: one in Unicode and another one in UTF (that's just my suspicion). Here below I post the details of the command terminal:

The very same problem occurs with cyrillic letters; in russian ark is simply unusable.
why doesn't ark use utf-8?

actually it's not a bug of ark, it's the bug of backends that do not display .zip, .rar, etc. contents properly due to windows codepage used in them.

Confirming due to response, upstream report, and duplicate bug. Is this still an issue with either gutsy or hardy? KDE4? Any extra info? Thanks!

The problem is still there on hardy and not only with ark:

if i get a file from a FAT32 device like USB key, then the accents disapear! and if i launch kword to open my files using the open dialog of kword (koffice 2), same accent problem, unable to open the file.

So i have to open it with kde3 applications (and also to copy them).

It seems it's a complete kde 4 problem and not just ark problem

This problem was caused by kubuntu_16_ark_utf8.diff patch. Please, cancel it
