Tomboy making any ugly face at me! :/
LOL

I joke, but I actually consider this a user experience issue.

ENV: Ubuntu "Edgy" BETA / Tomboy 0.4.1-0ubuntu3

Tomboy is now an essential tool for me!

Previously I was using Tomboy 0.3.5-1ubuntu3, and it did not seem upset with me.

I have the Tomboy applet in a 24 pixel panel. It looks like a pad of
nods with a disappointed / confused face on it

Looking closer (48 pixels), it does not look so disappointed, but I
would say it is stil not happy

Alex Graveley replied on the Tomboy mailing list:

Unfortunately, it was the only icon suggested other than jimmac's
connected notes icon, which I've never been partial to. I don't like
this one much either and the current already exists in Tango.

Luckily, the new icon loading code loads via the icon theme, so you can
overload the "tomboy" icon by putting a file with that name into ~/.icon
or /usr/share/pixmaps.

Of course, I welcome anyone with an artistic gift to step up with a nice
alternative. :-)

There was a nice square yellow icon until some updates ago. Does anyone have a screenshot of that?

OK this is how tomboy looked on Dapper:

And this is how it looks on Edgy now:

Is there a way to revert it and make it look like it did before?

I continue to discuss this issue on <email address hidden> .

It is fairly trivial to remove the scribble from the variable (svg) icon, and that is what I am hoping will be done.

I cannot live with "angry cheese" for six months, and I will be embarressed trying to convert others to Linux
with angry cheese on their screen ;-)

I am not an artist, but I tried playing around with the icon in both gimp and inkscape, and did not find it particularly good looking with any positioning of scribbles.

I don't think the "angry cheese" looks good at 48 pixels, or any size, but for the love of non-angry cheese can the scalable (svg) by the clean (nothing on it) pad? I could not navigate viewcvs, so I don't know if you already have the images made. I am happy to provide gifs or svg with a clean pad.

No progress has been made on the Tomboy list. I have attached a svg with a clean pad.

svg: that likely does not solve the problem, b/c the svg is not used for Windows Switching, and I still get the "angry cheese".

If you create the same directory structure that exists under /usr/share/icons you can replace all the icons for Tomboy. I took the SVG that foolswisdon supplied and converted it in inkscape to the required PNG files (16x16 for taskbar icons, 32x32 for application switcher, the orginal scalable icon is used for the panel). Attached is a TGZ archive that if you extract in your home directory will replace all the Tomboy icons with different ones.
