Unfortunately, the Hardy alternate boot CD does not have a driver for
the CDROM.

I'll file a bug for that.

Do you have a vga= option on your kernel boot line (run `grep vga= /boot/grub/menu.lst`)? If so, then it is probably the same as bug #122379.

PPC isn't supported in the latest Ubuntu releases anymore, can we close this bug?
