network-admin does not show or save gateway address

Bug Description

Ubuntu Edgy Eft beta / Gnome 2.16

I'm trying to use network-admin to set a static IP address for my ethernet card, and it does not show the gateway address when you load it. If you enter one, and try to save it, it doesn't report an error, but the address is not saved.

After installing a fresh copy of Edgy, I tried to change from DHCP to static using network-admin but the only lines it saved in /etc/network/interfaces were:

auto eth0
iface eth0 inet static
address 10.8.8.2
netmask 255.255.255.0

thanks for your bug. What version of system-tools-backend do you use? That bug is supposed to be fixed with 1.9.7. If you have it, did you restart your session or dbus since you installed it?

Greetings, Rocko and Sebastian.

I just downloaded Edgy's AMD64 desktop .ISO and I'm currently using it.

Rocko's post is correct: The gateway address doesn't get stored (I'm currently browsing through DHCP, sub-sloth speed...).

The version of system-tools-backends that's in these .ISOs with Edgy Eft's beta 1.9.5.1-0ubuntu1.

Since I can't install and restart (for obvious reasons), I assume that this is the reason why it's occurring.

I've tried with a daily CD yesterday, that works fine. You are using 1.9.5.1, the bug is supposed to be fixed since 1.9.7 so that's normal you still get the issue. Marking as duplicate of bug #59690, feel free to reopen if you still have the issue with 1.9.7
