Bug Description

Binary package hint: ubiquity

I downloaded a post-RC Kubuntu 10.10 amd-64 nightly build and used usb-creator to make a bootable USB out of a FAT32 partition on my flash drive, and booted my PC from it.

From the "Kubuntu 10.10 Installation process" Welcome screen I clicked "You may wish to read the _release notes_", and in the browser that pops up I browsed, filed bugs, had lots of tabs open. Very nice!

But when I clicked Try Kubuntu, without warning the browser window went away, the rekonq process died, and I got a new full KDE desktop. The user could lose data depending on what she was doing in the browser.

It would be nice if the browser window was preserved when you click Try Kubuntu. If that's not possible, maybe the browser window could alert e.g. "OK to quit browser? (you can start it again after Kubuntu starts)" and if the user cancels, the Welcome screen remains.

The workaround is to just start Kickoff > Web Browser after Kubuntu starts. The new rekonq reloaded my tabs (but not the back button history for them).

Ubiquity should simply not launch rekonq but use QtWebkit directly to display the notes from within the installer.
