Cannot paste from Eterm to KDE apps

Bug Description

Please feel free to reassign to the correct package if this isn't it. I can copy & paste from Eterm to any non-KDE app, but not into any KDE app. This is particularly annoying when I want to paste console output or something from a text file into a kmail email. I have to (for example) paste console output into a text file using vim, then open it in kate, and copy from kate to the email.

Klipper complains like so when I select text in Eterm, if I'm getting klippers output on the console:
X Error: BadAtom (invalid Atom parameter) 5
  Major opcode: 17
  Minor opcode: 0
  Resource id: 0x501b60

I have been unable to recreate this using eterm package 0.9.3-1ubuntu1 and klipper 3.5.5-0ubuntu3.2 on Ubuntu 6.10, codename Edgy. Is this still an issue for you and if so what package versions are you using?

Thanks,

Brian

Eterm is 0.9.3-1ubuntu1 and klipper is 4:3.5.5-0ubuntu3. I don't think I had this problem on 32bit kubuntu, but it persists on amd64. Can't imagine why the arch would matter, but this is the last of quite a few mysteriously arch-dependent bugs I've had using Eterm with KDE. I've switched from Eterm to mrxvt though, so if no one else is complaining about this it won't hurt my feelings if you close the bug.

I have recreated this on a 64bit Edgy system with eterm package 0.9.3-1ubuntu1 and klipper 3.5.5-0ubuntu3.2.

Not that it helps a lot, but I have the same exact bug on a 64bit hardy system too.
While they aren't 100% identical, my 32bit hardy laptop does not exhibit this.

Unfortunately, I can't quite upgrade the affected machine to intrepid.

Eterm for me is a complete mess on 64bit. I've submitted patches for some of the problems, but I've finally switched to gnome-terminal, so I won't be able to provide further input on this stuff. No surprise, to me, that this problem is 64bit-specific.

Rocco, I just Emailed mej, the Eterm author/maintainer, and he said he never got patches from you. Do you know where they went?

Either way he suggested to upgrade to Eterm 0.9.5 which I grabbed from intrepid and rebuilt from source on hardy64 and cut and paste now works.

For what it's worth, on lucid64, Eterm 0.9.5 still can't paste into konsole but this time it looks like it won't paste into konsole 2.4.2 but it'll paste into konsole 1.6.6 run remotely from a hardy system (kde4 vs kde3).

I tried rebuilding Eterm from source on my lucid system, but that did not help. It looks like this time konsole is the problem (Eterm can otherwise paste in my other apps, including firefox, chrome, and gnome-terminal).

Yet all my other apps can also paste into konsole, except for Eterm. Weird...

Sorry, when I say "konsole problem", it really seems to be a problem between Eterm and KDE4 apps in lucid (I can't paste from Eterm into konqueror either).

This bug also shows up between Eterm and Opera on x64 Lucid and x64 Maverick.
