The bcm43xx stuff has been in Ubuntu since the release of 6.06. You need the fwcutter to get the firmware to get it to work, however.

Yeah, we have bcm43xx support, but the 4311 chipset isn't supported in that driver.

is happily sitting in bcm43xx_main.c. Of course, it's possible that it doesn't work properly, but...

Yep, I was looking at the 2.6.19 source, which in fact doesn't contain the 4311 support.

However, dapper and edgy both contain 4311 support and PCI-E support.
