Bug Description

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati

With my IBM Thinkpad I used to have external monitors attached with the notebook lid closed. After upgrading from Debian Lenny to 10.04 and even now after further upgrading to 10.10 the option "IgnoreLidStatus" in xorg.conf is ignored or at least not recognized, because in Xorg.0.log it says:
RADEON(0): Option "IgnoreLidStatus" is not used

Immediately afterwards it says
RADEON(0): Option "Bla" is not used
because I inserted a nonsense option named "Bla" for testing purposes. Thus it reacts the same way to a documented option as it does with a nonsense option. That shouldn't happen I guess.

I forgot to mention the consequence of all this.

I am not able to disable LVDS (internal display), even when lid is closed. Thus I have XGA resolution when booting up at home with a big screen externally attached, because that's what the internal screen has. It is very annoying watching scaled up XGA on 21 inches.

Hey C.,

Hi, have you had a chance to test if this bug is still present in natty?

If it does (and if you're the original reporter), please boot into natty
and run the command:

  apport-collect <bug-number>

which will update the bug with fresh logs and tag the bug as affecting
natty. (It is best to run this right after reproducing the problem.)

We're closing this bug since it is has been some time with no response from the original reporter. However, if the issue still exists please feel free to reopen with the requested information. Also, if you could, please test against the latest development version of Ubuntu, since this confirms the bug is one we may be able to pass upstream for help.
