Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
gaphor: Depends: python-diacanvas2 (>= 0.14.2) but it is not going to be installed
E: Broken packages

either gaphor shouldn't depend on python-diacanvas2 (>= 0.14.2) or python-diacanvas2 should be uploaded

Debian have fixed this (or a similar) problem in 0.8.1-3. I don't understand why we are still on 0.7.1.

0.8.1 has been in Debian unstable since April 2006 and should have been synced across.

The differences with debian are:

gaphor (0.7.1-1ubuntu1) dapper; urgency=low

  * Added a .desktop file to the package (Closes Malone #6280)
  * Added an icon for the menu
