Bug Description

Installing lucid on a HP BL460c G6 blade the kernel times out on every interface (8 of them) due to a missing module?

Oct 27 07:21:17 kernel: [ 34.647857] bnx2x: gave up waiting for init of module libcrc32c.
Oct 27 07:21:17 kernel: [ 34.647921] bnx2x: Unknown symbol crc32c

This happens on every image I tried.

I reproduced this with images using 2.6.32-24.38 and 2.6.32-25.44.

This bug is also present on the installed system, making the bootup time slower.

Well, the real reason why it's so damn slow to boot the installer is this:

Oct 28 10:10:07 kernel: [ 500.158718] bnx2x: eth2 NIC Link is Down

Oct 28 10:11:51 netcfg[2676]: INFO: eth3 is not a wireless interface. Continuing.

Oct 28 10:11:51 kernel: [ 604.632998] bnx2x: eth3 NIC Link is Down
Oct 28 10:13:32 kernel: [ 704.449116] [bnx2x_wait_ramrod:7159(eth3)]timeout polling for state c0000 on IDX [1]

maybe it deserves another bug then.

The blade chassis has a HP Flex-10 ethernet module, which is probably why the bnx2x_wait_ramrod timeout happens. The other system we have doesn't have Flex-10 nor such timeouts.

The bnx2x_wait_ramrod issue was already reported and is bug 415353
