Bug Description

Binary package hint: kicker

After upgrading to KDE 3.5.5 from 3.5.4, the menu scheme for "Name (Description)" (you can choose that option from K Menu -> System Settings -> Panel -> Panels -> Menus -> Menu item format) is not working as expected, it's printing "Name Description". It should print, for example, "KMix (Sound Mixer)", and it prints "KMix Sound Mixer".

If this is a feature, it's not correct for some languages. In English, things like "KMix Sound Mixer" make sense, but in Catalan or Spanish, and I'm sure other languages too, "KMix Mesclador de so" doesn't make any sense. In order to be gramatically correct, it should be "Mesclador de so KMix". To make it understandable, it would be like printing "Sound Mixer KMix" in English.

Also, I just took a look at Edgy Live CD and Adept is shown (in English) as "Adept Manage Packages".

Maybe this should be a feature, but it shouldn't be enabled by default (or at least not enabled by default on languages other than English), and an option for "Name (Description)" should be there.

PS: This was tested on Dapper, but Edgy has the same issue.

I think it is a bug, because using "(description) name" works, but not the opposite.

I can confirm this behavior in current edgy/i386 and edgy/ppc.
Must be a bug. And it should be fixed before release, if possible, as this is the default setting in kubuntu.

Just did an upgrade from dapper to edgy and can verify that this is still an issue. Description (Name) properly uses the ()s but Name (Description) leaves them out.

I added a link to the upstream bug report. Also, the affected package seems to be kicker instead of kdebase.
