Bug Description

Binary package hint: unity

When enabling or disabling a plugin in ccsm compiz crashes. This does not appear to be bug #682345 as the backtrace is quite different.

Restarting compiz works, and the new state of the enabled/disabled plugin is correct (ie: if compiz crashed while enabling the plugin, on restart the plugin will be enabled).

Backtrace attached.

I think I have the same problem, when I change any compiz options with compizconfigsettings manager compiz crashes (the windows borders disappear) and I have to execute the unity python script to put things back to normal.
And it does that with every option I check (or uncheck) .

This is a problem for me as well. This seems to be a very wide range of people seeing this bug. from what i am getting from users in IRC, people have changed back to classic desktop due to this bug. At least i can now let them know how to work around it for now

I am also having another issue but im not sure if it is related to this bug or not.
When i enable desktop cube it tells me to disable desktop wall once i disable desktop wall it tells me to disable Ubuntu unity plug-in. I stop there because I'm not sure what the plug-in does.
My thought process is as:
Compiz may be crashing due to incompatibility with Unity and this problem seems to be exactly that and incompatibility issue.
If it is not the same please let me know and i will file a different bug.
