Bug Description

Binary package hint: kmix

After upgrading from Dapper to Edgy, global shortcut keys to adjust master volume via KMix no longer work. I have tried assigning different keys, and it doesn't seem to make any difference: volume is unaffected.

I have the same bug, i can't adjut the volume or unmute or mute. Kmix says that the volume is mute but I can still hear my music.

I tried with KeyTouch 2.2 too and it's not working too. My keyboard is Logitech media elite.

Definitely a problem; it's been reported on the KDE bug tracker as well: http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=136378

It exists in my version of Edgy, too.

Workaround posted on KDE tracker (I can confirm that it works):

Basically, it doesn't know what master channel to adjust the volume on until you manually set it. Even though it's automatically set to "Master", it doesn't use that autoset value correctly; you have to manually set it.
