Let the user decide where to import to

Bug Description

Currently in F-Spot you can only import to "Photos". The user should be able to specify a folder to import to. Asides from being a major irritation if you already have a directory structure for your photos, this is a blatant l10n/i18n issue.

Thanks for your report. Your idea might get more attention and have
the possibility of being implemented if you would submit a
specification for this.

You should first check whether it already exists at the Ubuntu specs
page (https://launchpad.net/distros/ubuntu/+specs) in Launchpad. If
that is the case, feel free to contact the drafter of that spec about
your comments/suggestions. Otherwise you can start writing a spec
following the steps described in
        https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FeatureSpecifications.

As well, you may wish to propose this to the F-Spot authors.

This functionality is already in F-Spot in edgy, and is selectable from the preferences menu.

I don't see it. Preferences only has two options: "Metadata", and "Screensaver".

I agree with Tom. This feature is needed and I can't seem to find it anywhere. It isn't in the preferences options (as Tom pointed out) nor is it configurable in gconf nor as a command line option nor in any hidden preferences directory. This functionality simply does not seem to be available in the version of f-spot that is provided with Edgy.

I have this same issue in edgy f-spot v0.2.1

In the forums hanzomon4 says he can specify the directory using v0.2.2. Could this update perhaps be applied? To my mind this is a bug, rather than a lacking feature, as it has l10n implications.

Setting to confirmed, given the number of "Me toos" and the fact that this has been fixed upstream in a later version.

Could this get a fix in Edgy too? On the basis that F-Spot is default photo manager and this is technically an i18n bug. Either the whole app could get a version bump, or this change could be isolated and applied as a patch.
