Bug Description
Binary package hint: linux-image-
I have a motherboard (ASUS A8V Deluxe w/VIA chipset) with on-board sound (VIA 8237 w/Realtek ALC 850) which is disabled in the BIOS (as I have a PCI sound card).
The PCI Sound Card is a SoundBlaster Audigy 2 ZS.
Linux/ALSA shows both as sound devices. and the VIA shows up as card 0.
I frequently have to change the "default" from the ViA to the SoundBlaster (generally after starting the computer or switching from GNOME to KDE or vice-versa.
The via shouldn't show up at all. Again it's disabled in the BIOS due to the PCI Sound card.

I have exactly the same setup and I am also facing this problem.
The strange thing is even when the Audigy card is selected as the default sound device sometimes i still don't get any sound.
