Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdebase

The keyboard layout option has no layouts to select from, the option is there but upon enabling, no layouts are available

I am using Kubuntu 6.10 edgy eft, I did two fresh installs and upon checking the 'keyboard layouts' section in kcontrol under Regional and Accessibility , I discovered after clicking the enable keyboard check box that there were no keyboard models listed. There were also no available layouts. I googled it and heard it mentioned in a kde forum that there was a problem with kdebase. I thought this would have been sorted out in the ubuntu package but the latest kdebase still has that glitch.

!! my 1st bug report, I feel important now :) !!

I confirm this bug. After upgrading from Dapper to Edgy I lost all of the keyboard models.

Maybe the following is another related bug but I'm including it here just in case:

I'm using a Logitech Access keyboard which was properly working in Debian Sarge when the keyboard model was chosen in "keyboard layouts". When changing to Kubuntu Dapper I lost the volume-up feature in the corresponding special key (however, the volume-down key is working well). This bug still remains in Edgy.

Does the issue still remains in Hardy Heron or Gutsy Gibbon. It would be nice if you could test this!

This bug seems to be fixed at least in Gutsy Gibbon.

I set this to fix released, as I and Antonio couldn`t reproduce this bug anymore. Feel free to reopen the bug -> Set Status to "new".
