Bug Description

I am running Ubuntu 6.10 i386 on a Sun Java Workstation W1100z (AMD Opteron 150 with nVidia Quadro FX 500) and have been unable to coax the screensaver to allow me to unlock it.

After the screensaver has been activated, I can bring up the unlock dialog as expected. However, when I try to enter input into the password field or click any of the related buttons, I get no response. My only recourse is to ctrl-alt-f1 to a console and kill the related processes.

I am running with NIS enabled, however, the user I use to login to the system is a local user.

Please let me know if I can provide further information.

Is the screensaver actually running, or has it crashed? (Run ps auxw | grep screen) If it isn't running, can you get a backtrace of it after a crash?
