changing x keyboard layout does not change console keyboard layout

Bug Description

Binary package hint: gnome-system-tools

When I change the keyboard layout in the gnome keyboard settings tool, the keyboard layout in the console under ctrl-alt-f1->f6 do not change accordingly.

Thanks for your bug. The tools is a desktop one and an user configuration tool, not a system one. The feature request might make sense for a new tool, it should be rather discussed upstream or on a list than on a bug tracker though, I'm marking it as Rejected, we are not likely to work on that feature any time soon

In my Thinkpad laptop running Gutsy, the keyboard layout changes (swap capslock and ctrl keys) is changed under the ctrl-alt-F1 console, just as I would like it to be.

However, in Hardy it no longer works this way.
