KDEInit could not launch 'kate' error using konqueror with sudo

What version of (k)ubuntu and KDE are you using?

I can confirm this on Feisty -generic. I get this error if I launch konqueror with sudo and click on a text file. Right clicking, going to actions>edit as root works.

I can reproduce this behavior in the latest Feisty Beta.

I also reproduced the same error with the latest version of Feisty beta.

With feisty...

I can Open with.. Other.. kate. and kate will open the file as root. After kate is running as root you can click on a file in the root konqueror and it will open in the root kate session.

Tested this with KDE 3.5.9 with kdesudo konqueror. It worked without any problems.

Sorry cannot confirm it. I double checked behaviour on the system I recognized it first. Inbetween I upgraded from 7.10 to 8.04 (Hardy still running KDE 3.5.x).

Still cannot start kate in root context with Open with.. Other.

I recently tried things on a different absolutely newly installed 8.04 Kubuntu. Same again.
Message is (still same):
Fehler - Konqueror (Exclamation mark !) KDEInit kann "kate" nicht starten.
((This is 32 Bit version - German ))

If I can help you to find out what goes wrong here, let me know.
